Donovan Wary Of SloveniaWith the hard-fought draw again England still fresh in the memory, the USA could be forgiven for believing that their next match against Slovenia would be a little easier. Yet the Group C leaders will be given the same respect as any other opponent in their World Cup campaign. In fact, USA and LA Galaxy star Landon Donavan is more concerned with avoiding defeat that winning the match. “In all likelihood, if we lose, we’re out of the tournament” he said. “ The man whose strike against England gave Robert Green such a problem admitted that he was surprised at England’s performance last week. “It seemed they were under a lot of pressure” he said, “When we came back and equalised they still seemed edgy.”
The USA are aware that if results go their way, the pressure could fall on England for the last fixtures next week.
