Djourou Commits Long Term Future To The GunnersIt has been announced by Arsenal that Swiss International defender Johann Djourou has agreed a new long term contract at the Emirates Stadium. The 21 year old has recently managed to reach 50 appearances for The Gunners and this contract signalled Manager Arsene Wenger’s intention to keep the player at the club for many years.
Djourou joined Arsenal in 2003 from Swiss club Etoile Carouge. He made his debut in a Carling Cup match in October 2004 against Everton and managed to become a regular in the team during the 2006/07 season. Last year the defender spent half a season on loan at Birmingham City. Unfortunately on his return to Arsenal he picked up an injury and only managed to make one appearance.
Djourou will compete for a place in the Arsenal defence this season with Kolo Toure, William Gallas and new signing Mikhail Silvestre. Tags: Johann Djourou, Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Posted: |
