On seeing Middlesbrough’s summer signing from Paris Saint-Germain for the first time, more than one supporter commented upon the likeness of Didier Digard to his legendary French compatriot Zinedine Zidane.

 

Boro boss Gareth Southgate is convinced that the £4M midfielder can have a major impact on the Premiership and on his side’s ability to beat the threat of the drop. Recent performances has shown that the combative 22 year-old certainly has the ability to be a class act in whatever league he plays in. “Didier has been outstanding for us in the last couple of games” said Southgate “He is such a good competitor”.

The Frenchman has taken a little time to adapt to the rigours of the English game but the coaches at the Riverside have clearly worked wonders on the player. Certainly, Boro fans will, like his manager, hope that he turns out to be even half the player that Zizou was.
