However, with a group headed by Germany and with Australia and Ghana to contend with, the experienced midfielder may have to call on all his guile to even guide his team through their group stage matches. ![]() Belgrade-born ‘Deki’ made his name at Red Star Belgrade winning the Yugoslav Cup and League in his first season before helping them to a UEFA Cup Winners Cup win. He moved to Italy and, in 2000, Stankovic won both the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia with Lazio. He then moved to Inter where he found further success and enhanced his reputation both at the San Siro and further afield. A hat-trick of Coppa Italia’s and four consecutive Scudettos between 2006 and 2009 came alongside the Serbian Player of the Year award in 2006. He represented Yugoslavia in the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 and has since played for Serbia in Germany 2006.
