Defoe Expects To Be Out For A MonthNew Portsmouth manager Tony Adams has been told that he is likely to be without top scorer Jermain Defoe for around a month. Defoe picked up an injury to his calf in the first half of England’s friendly international victory in Germany last week. The former Tottenham striker missed Portsmouth’s weekend game against Hull City and will now undergo further tests to assess whether there is a need for surgery.
The 26 year old said “I've been suffering for the past three games with the calf injury and it's got to the stage that when I play, I can't feel my foot because of the numbness… It's a minor operation but means I will be absent for at least four weeks”.
Since his move to Portsmouth last January, Defoe has been in fantastic form. He currently has six Premier League goals this season in just 12 appearances. Tags: Tony Adams, Jermain Defoe, Portsmouth Posted: 25th November 2008 |
