Definitely Up For The Cup

The FA Cup has been disappointing in recent years in terms of producing shocks and giant killing. This year, it seems to be having a resurgence.

The matches in the fourth round produced a few good games and a couple of corking results, none possibly more outstanding that the Spurs-Leeds match. Leeds, seemed out for the count on a couple of occasions but continued to plug away and got their just reward when a clumsy challenge by Michael Dawson on talismanic striker Jermaine Beckford gave the hero of Old Trafford the chance to equalise from the spot late into injury time. He kept his nerve and delivered an impressive strike to earn Leeds a replay and Spurs a trip they to Elland Road that they will not be looking forward to.

Reading dispatched Premier League Burnley whilst West Brom out-scored their Championship promotion rivals Newcastle at the Hawthorns. Brighton put up a good fight against Aston Villa and Accrington Stanley must have thought their luck was in against Fulham only for the London team to come through in the end.

But the headlines once again will belong to Leeds United and Jermaine Beckford. His stock is rising by the match. If he continues like this he may well get his wish to play Premier League football. And if they continue like this, it might just come with Leeds United.
