Davies ‘Disappointed’ With Horton

Bolton Wanderers striker Kevin Davies continues to believe that Hull City assistant manager Brian Horton ‘over-reacted’ to his second half tackle on Andy Dawson.

Davies has been proven to have got the ball in the challenge before his momentum carried him into the Hull player and he considers himself unfortunate to have had a foul awarded against him. However, the reaction of Horton, who had to be retrained by a policewoman on the touchline, was a major irritant for Davies as was the general behaviour of the Hull bench. “I spoke to a few of their players and they said he’d reacted like that before, and just to ignore him” said Davies. There were also accusations that Hull City complained to the officials during the half time interval that the striker was leading with his elbows. Davies reacted to this with anger retorting that this was entirely down to the ‘desperate’ situation Hull find themselves in.

Boss Gary Megson added to the criticism of the Tigers. "I was getting a little bit annoyed with what was going on," the Wanderers manager told a local paper. "I know a member of Hull's staff went into the referee's room and was moaning about Kevin Davies. He's as honest as the day is long and I don't take kindly to any bench, not just Hull's, trying to get him booked to gain an advantage."
