On loan Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies has been ruled out for the rest of the season after he injured his Achilles while playing in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

Davies was carried off on a stretcher after just 40 minutes in the game at The Emirates and had surgery on the Achilles straight after the game on Saturday night.

Just a month earlier Davies was being called up to the England squad by new manager Fabio Capello to play against Switzerland in a friendly match.

Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill expressed his disappointment at losing Curtis Davies until the end of the season. Speaking about the injury he said that it was a terrible injury to pick up and that Davies had gained lots of confidence at being picked by Fabio Capello for England. He added that Curtis Davies was gutted to be out for the rest of the season and Aston Villa will definitely miss him.
