England’s rising star Darren Bent sealed a 16.5 million pound move to White Hart Lane yesterday. In what is an irony of sorts, the fee paid for Bent is half a million more than what Barcelona paid for Thierry Henry. Charlton, who were relegated last season,were resigned to losing their prolific goalscorer to an established Premiership side. Tottenham have snapped up the former Ipswich star for a club record fee surpassing the 11 million pounds they paid for Ukranian Sergei Rebrov in 2000.

Tottenham have some of the best youngsters in the country playing for them. Bent joints the likes of Lennon, King, Robinson, Huddlestone, Jenas to name a few. Bent will add bite to Spurs’ attack which also boasts of Berbatov and Keane. Bent’s signing has also raised question marks on Defoe’s future at the club. Will Defoe move? Only time will tell !
