Yet another Manchester City target transferred to the Premier League. And this time it was Blackburn that pipped City into signing Paraguay international Roque Santa Cruz from Bayern Munich. Santa Cruz has signed a four year deal at Ewood Park and the transfer fee is believed to be abut 3.5 million pounds, a steal for a player of his calibre.

Santa Cruz was pushed down the ranks at Bayern following the arrival of stars like Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni and he had to move in order to secure a first team place. He scored 31 goals for the German giants and has five Bundesliga titles and four German cups. Still only 25, his best years lie ahead of him and Blackburn will be hoping that he can propel them into UEFA Champions League contention, a tournament in which he has 51 appearances.
