Cottagers Come Off Second Best

Fulham were dumped out of the FA Cup and blown away by the force that is once again becoming Manchester United.

A Carlos Tevez brace added to by Wayne Rooney and Ji-Sung Park were scant reward for what was other wise a good performance from Mark Schwarzer but as soon as Tevez sneaked his header in at the far post, it seemed almost a given that United would win. The diminutive Argentinian scored his second right out of the top drawer and when Rooney added a third just after half time it was game over.

Roy Hodgson admitted his side simply had nothing left with which to respond. He said: "It was tough on us we started the game very well. To go two goals down to a wonder strike made the second half very difficult and it put different complexion on the game.”

The home side did have their chances with Simon Davies wasting possibly the best of them during the first half. But against one of the meanest defences in the country, failure to take those opportunities that did arise would always be costly.
