City swoop for Pertov

Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov has become Sven Goran Eriksson’s fourth signing as Manchester City boss. He was signed for a fee of 4.8 million from Spanish side Atletico Madrid. Atletico let Petrov go as they themselves have agreed a deal to sign Benfica star winger Sarbosa Simao. Petrov was in high demand in the European market, and the deal is steal at 4.8 million.

Martin Petrov was touted by many to join his Bulgarian team-mate Dimitar Berbatov at White Hart Lane. But Sven Goran Eriksson used all his negotiation skills to broker a deal for the left winger. He has signed on a three year contract. City have failed to find an established left winger for the past two seasons and this signing is sure to relieve that worry for a while.
