Manchester United were crowned Premiership champions before their match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. However, the honour did not inspire the team to a win over rivals Chelsea. Both teams fielded weakened sides in preparation for the upcoming FA Cup Final. With both teams exiting the UEFA Champions League being knocked out in the semi finals and the English Premiership already decided the 2 clubs have no further chance of glory outside of the FA Cup.

Chelsea looked more likely to emerge as winners in what was essentially a low key encounter. The tie failed to dazzle and unsurprisingly eked out to a 0-0 draw. Several chances for both sides produced good saves from both keepers. While the game was almost a non event Manchester United have vowed to field their strongest side in their final Premiership game against West Ham who are surrounded in controversy and relegation mire.
