Celtic

Georgios Samaras and Gordon Strachan netted a Celtic double in the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League monthly awards, after securing both the player of the month and manager of the month awards respectively.

In the Scottish Premier League, Celtic climbed back to the top of the table after a comfortable 4-0 win over Hamilton Academical which, added to a Rangers loss, means Celtic now sit level on points with Rangers, with Celtic top on goal difference.

Shunsuke Nakamura opened the scoring against Hamilton before Georgios Samaras netted his 8th SPL goal of the season after 37 minutes. Scott McDonald continued the rout in the second half when he added Celtic’s third of the game before Aiden McGeady sealed the game late on, after Hamilton midfielder James McArthur saw his penalty effort saved by a magnificent double-save from Artur Boruc.

The next Old Firm match on the 27th  December has now been moved to a 12:30 GMT kick-off, rather than the original kick-off time of 15:00 GMT. The move was made due to Setanta Sports covering the game live on their channel. Remember, all live football including Scottish Premier League football is available online through the Live Sports Network.

In other news, a second man has appeared in court in relation to the attack that took place on Celtic coach Neil Lennon last month. Lennon was badly hurt after the attack, which is believed to have been caused by religious prejudices.

Ticketless Celtic fans are being urged not to make the trip for Celtic’s upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Manchester United this month. Manchester officials are determined to avoid the chaos caused by travelling Rangers fans in last months UEFA Cup Final. Perhaps a reasonable suggestion for Celtic fans would be to watch champions league online here at the Live Sports Network?
