Cash-Strapped Baggies Bag A FortuneWest Brom have completed the signing of French-Guiana born striker Marc-Antoine Fortune from Nancy on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy. ![]() With little or no cash to spend, Baggies boss Tony Mowbray will be delighted to have strengthened his squad on a day when the attempted signing of Portuguese international Ariza Makukula from Benfica finally came to an end. Fortune bagged six goals last season, helping his club to UEFA Cup qualification and has previously spent time at Lille, Brest and Utrecht amongst others. He joins another newcomer to the Hawthorns in Arsenal’s Jay Simpson who has also come in on loan. Mowbray has also reportedly made enquiries about Greek international Angelos Charisteas who is being made available by Germans second division side Nurnberg. With main striker Ishmael Miller out for the rest of the season as a result of knee ligament damage and only 17 goals in the league so far, finding the key to unlocking opposition defences is high in the list of priorities for the former Middlesbrough, Celtic and Ipswich Town defender as he seeks to ensure a second season in the top flight for his charges.
