Aston Villa have confirmed that keeper Scott Carson should be available to play against Manchester United on Saturday in the Premier League.

The young goalkeeper had to withdraw from the England squad to face France today due to injury. Carson pulled out of the squad due to a knee injury and immediately had a scan. The scan revealed that the problem was only a small one and he should have recovered in time for the game on Saturday.

An Aston Villa spokesperson said that they had a suspicion that the injury was only a small one but took Carson for a scan as a precaution. Carson withdrew from the England squad so he wouldn’t aggravate the knee further, the spokesman added.  

Carson has been a regular first team player for Aston Villa and was in goal for the weekend defeat to Sunderland, and if fit will start against the Premier League champions at the weekend.
