Cardiff Wanted Chopra
Championship side Cardiff made an offer to sign Sunderland striker Michael Chopra according to The Black Cats manager Roy Keane. Former Newcastle striker Chopra moved to Sunderland from Cardiff in the summer and Keane had high hopes for him. So far he has failed to live up to the name he made for himself at Cardiff and has struggled to find any form. Chopra found the net for the first time in 7 months in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa yesterday. Keane has admitted that Cardiff made an offer for him but it was rejected and he insisted that Chopra was staying at The Stadium of Light. Keane said that there are truths in the subject about Chopra going to Cardiff. They made an offer and we rejected it, Michael is staying put. Keane hopes that after Chopra scored his first goal in 7 months that it will be the start of many for him. Keane also hopes that Chopra will play a big part in Sunderland’s fight to stay in the Premier League. Keane added that Chopra is a great player and will score goals if chances are created for him. Our players haven’t been creating enough chances and Chopra has also being playing in a wide right position, opposed to his natural striker position. We are just delighted with Chopra for getting his goal yesterday, and hope it is the start of many more. Tags: Cardiff, Michael Chopra, Roy Keane, Sunderland Posted: 23rd March 2008 |
