History

Cameroon first qualified for the World Cup back in 1982 and though they remained unbeaten in the group stage, no victories meant that the Indomitable Lions finished third in their group.

Cameroon’s best ever performance in the World Cup came in 1990 when they made it to as far as the quarter finals, beating Argentina, Romania and Colombia before being just eight minutes away from dumping England out in the quarter finals, only to lose out eventually.

Road to 2010 World Cup

Paul Le Guen’s appointment as the Cameroon coach midway through the qualification campaign proved to be decisive as they improved from their disappointing start to win their next four games and top their group table.

Key Players

Inter Milan’s Samuel Eto'o will be the key for Cameroon’s progress in the competition along with Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Sebastien Bassong, Stephane Mbia and Jean II Makoun. Daniel Ngom Kome has not been picked in the squad in spite of having a good season with Tenerife.
