Busy Day At The Cottage

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson spent a frantic transfer deadline day making some swift deals and adding to his squad.

Aston Villa full back Nicky Shorey was recalled from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest last week and has now been allowed to join Fulham for the rest of this campaign. It is a move that suits both clubs and player as Hodgson’s need to obtain cover for the injured Paul Konchesky is matched by Shorey’s need to play regular Premier League football in a bid to force his way into Fabio Capello’s squad for the World Cup in the summer.

Liverpool’s promising German utility player, teenager Christopher Buchtmann has also signed for Fulham on an 18-month deal. The 17-year old who is equally happy at left back or in midfield is a German U-17 international and was one of the players named in UEFA’s top ten stars of the future for 2009.

Other movement at the Cottage included Stefano Okaka coming in from Roma and Diomansy Kamara heading to Celtic on loan. Academy graduate Wayne Brown has been allowed to join Bristol Rovers on loan to gain further first team experience.
