Bruce Plays Down Keane JibeWigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has expressed his delight at seeing former Manchester United colleague Roy Keane back in management despite comments made by the ex-Sunderland boss. ![]() Keane’s first day in charge at Ipswich saw him question the abilities of Bruce and Mark Hughes. However, Bruce glossed over the controversial remarks saying “I have to say we have missed him. I said when he left that I think football is a better place when he is in it.” Bruce is widely regarded to have done a good job at the JJB whilst Keane is the one who is still unproven in the top league. But Bruce remained diplomatic about the Horses new boss and his views. “I think what was said yesterday was probably taken out of context, but the thing with Roy is that he always wants to achieve. It is very difficult to win anything unless you are in one of the big clubs.” Bruce has been looking forward to next season and is reported to be interested in bringing another youngster from Crystal Palace into the fold.
