Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce reckons that the club are close to completing the permanent transfer of Maynor Figueroa to the club.

The left back initially moved to the JJB Stadium last January on a six month loan deal from Honduran outfit Deportivo Olimpia. His loan was extended in the summer after a series of impressive displays. Now it would seem that Bruce is ready to make the move permanent.

He said “I think Maynor has done enough here, and there is a deal in place between the two clubs…now with the sort of money we're talking about - £1.5m - it's a no-brainer not to make it permanent”.

The 25 year old currently has 58 caps for Honduras.
