Boyd exit claims shock RangersRangers’ striker Kris Boyd has revealed he almost left the Ibrox Stadium this summer after becoming increasingly frustrated at the club.
Boyd claims he was overlooked in several key matches, and told press: "I thought maybe my time was up and I'd have to move on, I thought about it over the summer but decided to give it another shot." The 25-year-old striker was subject to much transfer speculation over the summer, bolstered by the signings of fellow strikers Kenny Miller and Kyle Lafferty.
But the striker who has netted 13 goals this season chose to stay at the club, saying: "I didn't want to walk away and give up on the club I love as easy as that, I've always wanted to play here and be a part of success. I got a taste of that last season and want more this year."
This is not the first time Boyd has shocked the public with media outbursts, the striker quit international football under current manager George Burley after being left out of the squad for the World Cup qualifier against Norway in October.
Boyd was left on the bench for the game, and will now refuse to play under George Burley, though the former Kilmarnock striker has expressed his desire to return to international football with Scotland; once a new manager is in place.
