Bosnia-Herzegovina 1 - 0 Malta

Group C looks to be where the action is in the Euro 2008 qualifiers because three teams are locked on 13 points in the quest for a place in next summer's Euro finals to be held in Austria and Switzerland. Bosnia-Herzegovina did their chances no harm by strolling through to a 1-0 win over Malta in their June 6 qualifier.

Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey and Norway have the same number of points although the Turks have a game in hand. Bosnia-Herzegovina began the game against Malta determined to seal the points and gave no chance to the visitors to upset their applecart. The home side began with a flurry of attacks on the Malta goal and was rewarded in the 6th minute when striker Zlatan Muslimovic neatly collected a pass from partner Edin Džeko and drilled a high shot past Malta keeper Mario Muscat.

Thereafter Bosnia-Herzegovina struggled to gain any sort of attacking impetus, but Parma forward Muslimovic had a chance to double the home side's lead in the 28th minute when his 16-meter shot just missed the upright. Vedin Musić also tested Muscat from a long-ranger on 42 minutes, but the Malta keeper was on hand to avert the danger.

Malta's only promising attack in the first half was through Ivan Woods, who drilled a nice shot late only to see Bosnia-Herzegovina keeper Adnan Gušo punch it away. After the break, the game got a bit tight. Malta captain Gilbert Agius had a chance on 66 minutes, but his goal ward shot was blocked by Bosnia-Herzegovina defender Boris Pandža. Muslimovic had a chance from a corner late on, but his header was blocked by Muscat.

Bosnia-Herzegovina are on 13 points from seven games and occupy the second spot in Group C, while Malta are in the sixth spot with four points from seven games. Bosnia v Malta was a close run match which finished 1-0 to the home team.
