Bosnia-Herzegovina v Turkey
Bosnia-Herzegovina takes on Turkey knowing full well that they need a win to be able to stay alive in the Euro 2008 qualifying rounds. With Turkey and Greece sitting comfortably atop Group C, Bosnia-Herzegovina need to gain three points against the Turkish team in their clash on June 2.
Bosnia-Herzegovina coach Fuad Muzurovic is confident of his team's chances especially after they beat Norway 2-1 in their last outing. Muzurovic has named six new players in the squad to face Turkey and Malta in June. "After winning against Norway, our chances of finishing in the top two in the group have increased. Turkey are favorites, but we will try to surprise them," he opined.
The new players to enter the Bosnia-Herzegovina team include Muhamed Alaim, Jasmin Buric, Mehmedalija Covic, Veldin Muharemovic, Damir Vrancic and Aleksandar Šolic.
Turkey coach Fatih Terim has also opted for new faces in his squad to face Bosnia-Herzegovina on June 2 and a friendly against Brazil in Dortmund. He has chosen to drop goalkeeper Volkan Demirel and include goalkeeper Serdar Kulbilge. Other new faces are Serdar Kurtulus, defender Ugur Kavuk, Colin Kazim-Richards and Umut Bulut.
Meanwhile it appears keeper Rüstü Reçber will man the Turkey goal after he was recalled by his coach. The 34-year-old will hope to make his 114th international appearance for the team. Another probable milestone is that Blackburn Rovers midfielder Tugay Kerimoglu will be playing his last match for Turkey. Tugay is due to retire from international football after the Brazil friendly.
Turkey are on top of Group C with 13 points from five matches, while Bosnia-Herzegovina occupy the third spot with seven points from five games.
