Bosnia-Herzegovina conjured up a miracle yesterday as they beat a marauding Turkey team 3-2 after trailing by two goals just before the end of the first half. In a tight Group C, this result could prove pivotal in who eventually makes it to the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland next summer.

With Norway notching up a comfortable win over Malta, Bosnia-Herzegovina will need to repeat the dose if they are to match the Norwegians until the final stages. Adnan Ćustović was the hero for Bosnia in the Turkey game notching up a fine late winner much to the delight of the home crowd.

The win also keeps Group C interestingly poised with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Greece, Turkey and Norway all competing for a spot in the Euro 2008 finals. Bosnia-Herzegovina coach Fuad Muzurović will feel reasonably confident of beating a Malta team that is looking increasingly clueless in this campaign.

The coach has named six players yet to play an international in his team to face the two qualifiers. Muhamed Alaim, Jasmin Burić, Mehmedalija Čović, Veldin Muharemović, Damir Vrančić and Aleksandar Šolić are the new faces in the 27-man squad. With the Turkish game out of the way and with a satisfactory result, Bosnia-Herzegovina will be hoping to have a relatively easy game against Malta.

Malta coach Dušan Fitzel had said before the June Euro 2008 qualifiers that he wanted a positive result from one of the two games. Having failed to achieve that against Norway, Malta will look to upset a buoyant Bosnia-Herzegovina side that is fresh from a memorable triumph against Turkey.

Malta captain Gilbert Agius completed his 100 internationals in the 0-4 loss to Norway, so that game will not hold too many sweet memories for him.

Bosnia-Herzegovina occupy the third spot in Group C with 10 points from six games, while Malta are languishing in the sixth place with four points from six matches. The Euro 2008 qualifier Bosnia v Malta will kick off at 19:15 on Wednesday.
