Blues Without McFadden Through Injury

James McFadden

James McFadden has had surgery on his injured knee and will now miss the next two matches for the club.

Scottish striker McFadden missed today’s defeat to Reading after he was recovering from the surgery that he was forced to have as he couldn’t play with the knee in the state it was in.

He injured his knee during the 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Monday night and Birmingham decided that he should go for surgery to correct the problem as soon as possible.

He will miss the next two matches while recovering which include games against Manchester City and Wigan.

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish admitted that it was a massive blow for the team. McLeish described the injury as a ‘small rip like injury in his knee’. McLeish thought that the injury was just a knock to the knee and that he would have recovered in time but the physio’s at Birmingham discovered that it could be a tear.

McLeish admitted it was a huge blow to lose a striker who is in such good form and the other players were inspired by him so it makes it a massive blow for us all.
