Blues Close In On AncelottiMilan manager Carlo Ancelotti continues to be candidate to replace Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge despite comments by club president, the Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. ![]() Sunday will see a meeting between the pair but Chelsea will be anticipating a positive outcome from their point of view with Ancelotti having supposedly signed a pre-contract agreement to move to London. The 49-year old does have the option of a year’s extension on his contract at the San Siro but recent newspaper reports citing Berlusconi’s criticism of his managers tactics and selections may have proven the final straw for Ancelotti despite his presidents denials. Berlusconi claimed that he was not interviewed and intends to explain his position on Sunday. However although general manager Adriano Galliani stating that the option year would be taken up, the chances of Chelsea being able to name Hiddink’s successor shortly must have increased. Didier Drogba may be heading out of London with rumours linking him with a return to former club Olympic Marseille being aired. Laurent Paganelli, French television pundit and friend of Drogba, said “I met him and can say he really wants to return to Marseille, and that is the right moment to bring him back.”
