Black Cat Bent Awaits White Hart Return

Darren Bent’s return to White Hart Lane has not played on his mind. And the Sunderland and England striker is more concerned about a Mackem win than a goal.

The 25 year-old joined the north east club from Spurs for £10M during the summer and has subsequently hit 8 goals in a little over 10 games making him the Premier League’s leading marksman going into the game. But Bent insists that bringing all three points back to Wearside is his priority.

"I don't want the game to be about Darren Bent v Spurs, because it's so much more than that” he said, "It's about us - Sunderland - kicking on to the next level and hopefully pushing into Europe. It would mean a lot for me to score, but it would mean everything if the team wins."

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce reckons his man has nothing to prove but his counterpart in North London, Harry Redknapp, has no regrets over Bents departure. Whilst the England man could get a rough reception from the fans, Redknapp said that the pair parted on good terms and said that the transfer had been good for all parties.
