Marseille right back Habib Beye is set to join Premier League side Newcastle United for a reported fee of £2.7 million. The Senegal defender looks to put pen to paper on a 4 year deal at St James Park and joins the list of summer acquisitions for new manager Sam Allardyce.

Beye has failed to start for Marseille in the last 2 league games and has dropped down the pecking order at the club. Beye is looking forward to a new challenge with the Premiership club whose aspirations have grown following their summer takeover. New owner Mike Ashleigh has pumped funds into the United coffers in a bid to turn around the perennial underachievers.

Newcastle have been especially dominant in Ligue 1 during the close season having already signed 2 defenders David Rozehnal and Claudio Cacapa from its clubs.
