Benitez Accepts Criticism

Rafael Benitez has held his hands up and accepts it is up to him to get Liverpool’s form back on track. Since hitting the top of the English Premier League table after a 6-0 thrashing of Derby County back on September 1st Liverpool have struggled to find consistent form.

Most recently they struggled against Wigan and were only able to manage draws against Portsmouth and Tottenham. European form has also suffered. Once the pride of Anfield, Liverpool lost at home to Marseille and only managed a draw against FC Porto in the Champions League.

Rafa’s squad rotation policy has been the source of much criticism during the highs and lows of Liverpool’s season. Many blame the rotation for having caused inconsistent displays as an ever changing team struggles to gel as a unit. When Liverpool did find their form against Derby they then faced a lengthy international break which destroyed any momentum they may have had.

"The problem is a tactical problem and it is my problem, Confidence (of the squad) is also an issue but not the physical condition of the players. We are running more and faster than before."
