Beckham Netted Real £300mIt is understood that David Beckham made Real Madrid more than £300 million during his four years at the Spanish La Liga champions. Beckham has now moved to the USA to play in the MLS for LA Galaxy where he will make his debut later this month. The 32 year old former England captain made the move to Spain from Manchester United back in 2003 for a whopping £25m. The move prompted a merchandise boom as Real sold over one million club shirts within the first 6 months of the player’s arrival. Marketing director Jose Sanchez claimed that the arrival of Beckham increased merchandising profits by 137%. Personally Beckham’s term at Real Madrid was also lucrative. However, this is overshadowed by his new deal with LA Galaxy. Beckham is set to be unveiled by the club on 13th July and has a 5 year contract with the club worth up to £125m in salary and promotional endorsements. Real Madrid is now classed as the wealthiest club in the world as revenue rose from £186.2m to £202m in the last 12 months.Tags: David Beckham, Real Madrid, Spanish La Liga, LA Galaxy, Manchester United Posted: |
