Beckham Silences CriticsDavid Beckham justified his recall as he set up a goal for England from a set piece (free kick). He played well from the right flank delivering precise balls and he was cheered from the crowd when he was substituted. England and Chelsea’s captain, John Terry converted his trademark cross from a free kick on the right flank. The match was goalless in the first half but Gilberto Silva’s header goal was disallowed as offside even though he was clearly on. In first half, Brazil dominated the attacking and possession with England mostly with counter attacks. England put more aggression and effort into the match in the second half and they almost claimed the win until the last minute of the match. Brazil equalised in the final minute, 92 nd of the match by header from Diego. Kaka and Ronaldinho did not play well as expected and Lampard from England team was also not like himself in Chelsea. Steven Gerrard was the man of the match as he tried hard with timely tackles and he deserved it. Beckham and Michael Owen received the biggest cheers when their names were read out before the match began. Michael Owen also looked quite sharp in the forward position and McClaren will take postive things from this match surely. In first half, Beckham spotted Owen’s run and delivered a very promising crossing ball into his path that he only just failed to reach. Beckham tried a free-kick just outside the box but he nearly missed the target. He and Ronaldinho tried a few direct free kicks between them in both half but were unsuccessful. Second half was more lively for England and even though they might deserve a win, their goal was equalised by a header from a bloke called Diego from Brazil. In summary, it is a entertaining international friendly football match and McClaren and his team will go to Estonia full of confidence to get a win there.
