Beckham Sidelined Under Capello

David Beckham has been left still searching for his 100th international cap as new boss Fabio Capello has left the 32 year old former captain out of the reckoning for the upcoming Switzerland friendly.

Capello who also managed and dropped Beckham at Real Madrid is thought to have concerns over the match fitness of the LA Galaxy player. Beckham has not played a competitive game since England defeat to Croatia at the end of November.

Beckham has been training with Arsenal in a bid to maintain match fitness and catch the eye of Capello. Unfortunately his efforts have not paid off. David Beckham will now have to wait for the chance to join the ranks of a select few who have achieved 100 international caps. The names include Peter Shilton, Bobby Moore, Sir Bobby Charlton and Billy Wright.

Chelsea duo John Terry and Frank Lampard are also likely to miss out through injury. John Terry featured as captain under Steve McClaren but now the door is open for Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard to carry the accolade. In the buildup to the game Capello is not giving anything away regarding his team selection. Media speculation is rife even for the goalkeeping position with 5 names regularly mentioned.
