Basinas Has Future At Fratton ParkAngelos Basinas still has a part to play at Portsmouth according to club chief executive Peter Storrie. ![]() The 33-year old Greek international has failed to make an appearance under the Hart/Kidd regime but Storrie thinks that does not necessarily mean that Basinas will leave in the summer. Despite another Greek, Theofanis Gekas, appearing likely to exit the club after not making an impact whilst on loan, the midfielder is still in contention. “I think with Basinas it's a different sort of situation,” he said, “I think he is a good player and I'm sure he is going to feature now and in the future.” Storrie has admitted that the club may have to sell players if no new monies are invested inwards. Pompey are still up for sale after Sacha Gaydamak decided to pull out and a lack of fresh funding may force the sale of such players as Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson to name but two. With the club still not mathematically safe from relegation, the search for a buyer continues. Storrie said “I would like to keep all our good players but obviously a lot depends on the ownership issue. Hopefully, we can bring a new owner in who can also put finance in because there is finance required for the club going forward.” Tags: Angelos Basinas, Peter Storrie, Theofanis Gekas, Sacha Gaydamak Posted: |
