Barry Starting To Enjoy Life At Villa Again

England Midfielder Gareth Barry has been speaking about life at Aston Villa since his protracted move to Liverpool eventually collapsed in August.

For most of the summer it seemed inevitable that Barry would leave Villa Park. He had made it clear to Manager Martin O’Neil that he wanted to play Champions League football. Liverpool made overt approaches that led to subsequent claims and counter claims. This resulted in a failure to agree a transfer fee and left a lot of frustration and bad feeling between the clubs.

With the collapse of the deal to take Barry to Anfield, the 27 year old has had to rebuild relationships at Villa, particularly with the fans, of which some made known their displeasure towards him during a pre-season friendly.

Speaking after Villa’s recent Carling Cup defeat to Queens Park Rangers, Barry said “I'm beginning to enjoy my football again…Things happen in life but I always try to play well against any team”.
