Relegation-threatened West Brom have sufficient financial stability to stave off the need to sell their best assets should the drop back to the Championship become a reality. That is the position according to Baggies boss Tony Mowbray as the club go into the closing weeks of the season still rock bottom of the Premier League.

 

Despite the looming disappointment being a hat-trick of relegations from the Premier League inside a decade, the sensible decisions made at boardroom level at the Hawthorns means that no debt is being carried which often leads to fire sales as experienced by other clubs who have found themselves in the bottom three after 38 games. Such stability leaves Mowbray in a strong position to lead his charges in yet another promotion campaign as the Baggies will have one of the strongest squads in the Championship if that is indeed where they end up playing their football next season.

"The club is very well run. It is not going to disappear out of the end of the next division. It's a club that will be very strong in the division below because of the fact that it doesn't have to sell any players if it doesn't want to.”
