Sunday 17th May will not go down in West Bromwich Albion’s illustrious history as a good day. ![]() Striker Roman Bednar has expressed his ‘deep regret’ after allegations of involvement with drugs were published in a Sunday newspaper. He was photographed after allegedly buying more than one prohibited substance. He has publicly apologised for a story which is damaging to his club and the game. “I am sorry and deeply regretful for the stories that have emerged in the press today and the embarrassment and negative publicity it has brought to the directors, players and staff of WBA FC and all the supporters,” read the statement. “My biggest disappointment today is of the team’s relegation to The Championship and sincerely I hope to have the opportunity to help the club regain promotion next season.” Bednar has been suspended by West Brom pending investigation. Tony Mowbray stated that whilst he had spoken to the player no further statements would be made at present.
