The president of Atletico Madrid Enrique Cruz has contradicted rumours by declaring that English Premier League club Liverpool have not tabled a bid for Fernando Torres. The Madrid striker has been at the center of media speculation regarding a possible move to the Champions League finalists. Atletico Madrid only managed to finish 7^th in the Spanish La Liga this year. However, 23 year old Fernando Torres played a big part in their season scoring 14goals in 36 appearances. The Spaniard progressed through the academy ranks at Madrid before bursting into the first team. Torres has been the top scorer at the club for the last 5 seasons. Now a renowned international player his contract expires in 2009.
