A draw for Chelsea away from home to Arsenal clinched the title for Manchester United. It is the first time United claim the title since 2003 with Chelsea having claimed for the 2 previous seasons. Ten man Chelsea refused to give up hope but in the end could only claim a point from their game at the Emirates stadium.

Chelsea found themselves a man down and then a goal down as Khalid Boularouz was sent off for fouling Baptista. Silva converted the penalty kick after sending Chelsea keeper Petr Cech the wrong way. For many teams the writing would have been on the wall at this point but not for Chelsea. As we have come to expect this season Chelsea dug deep and with an organized defensive unit played from the back. Their resilience paid off in the second half as Michael Essien scored after 70 minutes. Chelsea second half performance was truly inspiring as the 10 man champions took the game to Arsenal. Arsenal are not an easy team to compete against at home even with a full strength side. At the end of the 90 minutes Chelsea suffered with 10 men and without Drogba to surrender the English Premier League to Manchester United.
