Angry Wolves Chase Trotters

Wolves have lodged a formal complaint with the Premier League over allegations of an illegal approach to one of their young stars.

Mark Connolly signed for Bolton during the closing hours of the transfer window for around £400,000 which could rise considerably on performances. However, Wolves believe that their player was subject to undue influence by a former club employee, assistant manager Chris Evans, in his decision to move.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told his clubs website “We have lodged an official letter of complaint, supported by considerable amounts of documentary evidence, with both the Premier League and the FA, The complaint relates to Bolton Wanderers and their assistant manager Chris Evans, a former Wolves employee.”

Premier League and FA rules exist to protect club’s who develop young players through academy programs. There have been several recent cases including most notably Chelsea who had a transfer embargo imposed on them as a punishment. Were Bolton to be found guilty, then there could be serious repercussions for Gary Megson’s side.
