Chelsea have completed the signing of Nicolas Anelka from Bolton for a reported £15m. A previous £12m bid was turned down for the 28 year old striker. Anelka could now feature as early as Saturday when Chelsea take on Spurs.

Chelsea have limited options up front in coming weeks. Drogba and Kalou are away for the African Nations Cup. Shevchenko is injured leaving Avram Grant short on options.

"It's not a secret that I was looking for one more striker, and Anelka has pace, is a good finisher and is scoring a lot of goals," said boss Avram Grant.

Despite signing a 4 year deal back in August it did little to settle media speculation of a move for Anelka. He has scored 11 from 22 so far this season and has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League.
