Andorra 0 - 2 Israel

Heavy rains at the Estadi Comunal could not stop Israel from marching to a win against Andorra in their Euro 2008 Qualifying clash on June 6. The win keeps Israel in the hunt for a spot in the Euro 2008 finals despite England registering a win against Estonia and Croatia and Russia playing out a draw.

The pitch for the match was full of puddles thanks to the incessant rains, but Israel were determined to see they got the full three points from their match. Toto Tamuz set the tone for the game when his fine shot drilled into the upright in just the second minute of the match.

Dedi Ben Dayan then sent in a precise throw in which Yoav Ziv shot just wide. Andorra keeper Koldo Alvarez was called into the action when a shot from the Beitar Jerusalem striker just after this. Marc Bernaus finally gained a chance for Andorra when he unleashed a 20-year shot only to see it go just over the bar.

However Roberto Colautti ensured Israel took the lead as Toto Tamuz scored in the 37th minute. His beautiful header did not allow any chance for the Andorra goalkeeper.

Colautti himself was on target just eight minutes after the break heading in a perfect cross from Barach Itzhaki. Colautti's header into the bottom corner from close distance. However even after Israel doubled their lead, free-flowing football was impossible because of the heavy rain pelting the field.

Andorra tried to fight back, but the game was out of their hands as they were unable to cope with the deluge as well as with the Israel defence.

Israel maintain their second spot in Group E with 17 points from eight matches, while Andorra have bottomed out with n points from seven games. Andorra v Israel ended with a 2-0 away win.
