Nigeria defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina through a Peter Odemwingie goal and also a bit of luck with refereeing. Nigeria’s first match performance was criticized in their homeland (their draw against Iran), but they turned it around quite well with an all-round performance. They are still in contention to qualify even if Iran fail to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina in the other match, the only condition being they would need to get a result against Argentina.

Argentina needed a saviour and they looked to their angel, Lionel Messi who scored a sweet left footed curler to take Argentina into the round of 16. Iran defended bravely against the limp Argentina attack and they also had a few chances of their own. But the script was written for a fairy tale finish. Hope Argentina improve in the next game.

Key Battles: The midfield battle should be very important with Argentina midfielder proving to be ineffective for large parts.
