After coming back twice to snatch a 2-2 draw away at Le Mans, French giants Lyon will be hoping for a easier game when they take on Valenciennes this weekend at Stade Gerland. Valenciennes were beaten 3-1 by Nancy in their Ligue 1 opener. The home side took the lead through Mamadou Samassa but strikes from Julien Feret and Jonathan Brison allowed Nancy to claw their way back into the game.

Valenciennes striker Gael Danic failed to capitalise on Brison's foul, and missed his 67^th minute spot kick. However there was no such mistake made by Bakary Traore, who scored Nancy's third goal from twelve yards out after Issar Dia had been hacked down by Valenciennes defender Jacques Abardonado.
