The defending champions had gone four games without a league win but hit top form against Parma last weekend as a Dejan Stankovic hat trick saw them bounce back from a goal down to register a comfortable 5-2 victory in front of their home fans.

The victory lightens the pressure on manager Rafa Benitez who will be hoping that his side can now go on a winning streak and close down the gap over their arch rivals AC Milan and move back to the top of the Serie A table.

Lazio on the other hand are continuing their excellent start to the season to remain three points clear in second place. Though the Aquile were held to a disappointing draw by Catania, coach Edoardo Reja will be confident of collecting at least a point against Inter this weekend.
