The bad news for Gers is that on loan defender Kyle Bartley is heading back to parent club Arsenal after it was confirmed that he will not be able to play for three months due to the ankle ligament damage sustained in the tie against PSV Eindhoven. Bartley will be a huge loss to Rangers, but Smith will still be confident of clinching the title.

Meanwhile St Johnstone, who play Kilmarnock over the weekend, will be looking to build on their 1-0 win over Brechin in the Scottish FA Cup and finish as high u the league table as possible.
