The defending champions secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Hibernian last weekend with Kenny Miller grabbing a hat trick in the second half. Both the teams were reduced to 10 men just before the half time whistle with Kyle Lafferty and Kevin McBride both shown red cards but Rangers shrugged off the dismissal to put up an excellent performance in the second half.

Manager Walter Smith was delighted with his side’s performance but criticized Lafferty for the dismissal. With Celtic also securing maximum points from their opening two games, Smith will need all of his key players to be available throughout the season if he is to help Rangers secure a third successive league victory.

St Johnstone on the other hand are still searching for their first win of the new season after collecting just one point from their opening two games. Derek McInnes’ side will be missing a number of key players with Peter Enckelman, Liam Craig and Jody Morris all out due to injuries.
