The Gers had triumphed 3-0 at Easter Road Stadium in the second game of the season but were thrashed by a similar score line at the Ibrox Stadium.

With his side now just two points behind league leaders Celtic, coach Walter Smith will be aware that they cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to overtake their title rivals at the top of the table.

Rangers will be without top scorer Kenny Miller for the trip to Hibernian with the striker expected to complete his move to Turkish club Bursaspor later this week. The transfer will come as a big blow for Smith who has often relied on the goal scoring prowess of Miller who has scored 21 goals in 18 league games this season.
