After a horrible start to the new season that saw the Latics concede 10 goals in their opening two games, Wigan have slowly improved to collect five points from their last four games. Manager Roberto Martinez will be aware that while his side is putting up improved displays, there is still a very long way to go if they are to have any hopes of pulling clear of the drop zone.

Wolves on the other hand go into the match on the back of a three game losing streak which includes a narrow defeat to Aston Villa last weekend. Manager Mick McCarthy was disappointed that his side had nothing to show for their excellent fight back in the second half and will be hopeful of using that performance to register their first win in six games when they visit Wigan this weekend.

With both the sides expected to once again be involved in a relegation battle come the end of the season, both the managers will be hoping to deal an early blow on their rivals by collecting all three points on Saturday. Wolves will be without midfielder Adlene Guedioura who faces a long stretch on the treatment table with a leg injury while there are no major injury concerns for Wigan.
