Following an excellent performance against Liverpool, Newcastle United were brought back to earth within four minutes of their match against City as Gareth Barry and Carlos Tevez gave the Citizens a brilliant start to their match. Though Andy Carroll set the stage for a late comeback, Tevez made sure that his side went home with all three points by restoring the two goal lead in the 80th minute.

Pardew admitted that his side was poor, especially in the opening few minutes and claimed that they will have to do better if they are to remain in the top half of the table come the end of the season.

Meanwhile Wigan will be looking to build on their excellent display against Wolves last weekend that saw them clinch vital three points against fellow relegation strugglers. Hugo Rodallega and Tom Cleverley were on target for the Latics who held off a late onslaught by Wolves to collect all three points and climb out of the relegation zone.
